Author Services

Hi Authors!

We love reading all your books and we do reviews absolutely free of charge.

Due to this, however, we have a huge TBR, and an immense number of pending requests, and it's growing every day! We do respond to you all, but it does take a lot of time.

We have had a few authors/publishers messaging to ask if we provide any other sort of exposure apart from reviews, as well as if we provided any other services. Well, we already do Express Reviews and Social Media Management for a few authors, and we've added more services below!

Taking your suggestions, we have decided to offer the following free services as of now:
  • Guest Post - If you're an author, book blogger, poet, writer and you'd like to post here, we'd be happy to give you a spot. We have a global audience of book lovers and you can link back to your own blog/book/page too! We only ask you keep it relevant to the writing and/or self publishing space.
  • Author Interviews - Featuring the author and their new books on the blog as well as on my Instagram page. You can also pick when you would like the post to go up, i.e. if you would like it to coincide with the eve of your book release.
And also, some paid services which we currently provide:
  • Express Reviews - Since we have an insanely huge TBR, we decided to start Express Review services. For a nominal fee, we ensure your book is read and reviewed at a date you want. This works for authors who send us ARCs and may want to ensure a review before release, or if your book has newly released and you want reviews quick. At a minimum, we commit to posting the review within two weeks. Starts from $25.
  • Paid Ads - A slot on the blog sidebar for added visibility for your book, on a monthly or quarterly basis. Starts from $5.

  • Blogger Outreach - This includes contacting bloggers and soliciting reviews/other promotional posts. Additionally, we also help authors expand their social media reach (setting up Twitter, Instagram accounts), and post for authors on their social media platforms. Starts from $75.

  • Social Media Management -  Here, we manage your accounts fully, including crafting an informative bio, responding to people, and regular updates. We are active on Instagram and realize a lot of indie authors who reach out to us don't have active pages. We'd like to help you fill that gap. Starts from $50.
  • Proofreading -  Maybe you are happy with your current editor and just need an extra eye to go over the edit and point out any glaring errors that may have been missed. An extra set of eyes never hurt anyone! We are way too addicted to books and way in love with the language to ensure that no error will escape our eye.
  • Beta Reading - You're all set with the writing and structure and editing, and almost ready to publish. That's where beta readers come in. We provide workable feedback on what we did and did not like about the story arc, descriptions, structuring and whether or not the story feels drawn out in places. Our reviews also provide the same type of honesty, as you can see in the blog, but we think it's better to get feedback before you hit "Publish'! Starts from $40.
  • Spotlight Post - A book feature/spotlight/blitz containing the book cover, description, publisher, publication date, links, author bio etc. Starts from $10.
To know more details/charges about the same, feel free to email me, and make sure you write the Service Name in the Subject Line of your email. For example - Express Book Review - (book name)

We hope this helps you in some small way, and if you just want a review, ensure you fit the genre specified in my review policy.

Happy reading,
Oh Just Books

  1. I am requesting a PAID review of The Click (68,000 words) which is a futuristic Drama/Thriller (Sci Fi) to be released for publication by The Wild Rose Press on October 24, 2018. I would also be interested in some of your other marketing services.

If you decide to review it and can do so by it's publication date that would be great. If not, I would still love for you to review it. I can send you the PDF, EPUB, or MOBI version. Your choice.

I would love to see the review appear in the usual placing including Amazon, Goodreads, Facebook and wherever else you suggest. If there are any Sci-Fi sites you know of that would be great also.

Below please find a brief blurb and my bio.

    Thank you for your time.

In a futuristic society controlled by theocratic zealots, a retired CIA operative racing against time to save his young grandson from prematurely dying unravels a startling conspiracy and the frightening truth about himself.

The Click is a dramatic thriller set in the distant future when all humans reaching the age of seventy-five experience ‘the Click’ and peacefully die in their sleep; God’s chronological death sentence intended to prevent overpopulation according to conventional wisdom at the time.

Handsome Oliver Hitchcock, who looks to be in his late fifties, is a retired narcissistic C.I.A. operative, and lady’s man. He is also one of the lucky ones, a Beater. At seventy-eight he beat the Click and the aging process. His eleven-year-old grandson, Christopher, is not so lucky. Christopher, a Preemie, is prematurely in the throes of the Click and will die within the year if Hitchcock can't save him. To do so, Hitch must fight off the Church of Ecclesia and the Coalition United for Theocratic Oversight, the Cūtocracy, as well as Janine Rousseau, his past lover and strong-willed antagonist. But he has help including the president of the United States and a village hidden in India's heart of darkness.

The Trials of Adrian Wheeler was my first published novel (L&L Dreamspell, 2011). It was awarded runner-up in the San Francisco Book Festival 2015.

I am happy to say that The Trials of Adrian Wheeler has been optioned as a movie by EVW Entertainment (producer of the movie Break the Stage), and the screenplay has been written by Erik Wolter and me. EVWE is now looking for partners to produce the movie. Erik and I have collaborated on a sequel to the screenplay.

The Wild Rose Press published The Fountain of Youth, my second published novel, in May of 2017. It has received exceptional reviews, some of which appear on Amazon and Goodreads. Also, the stage play has just been completed.

My wife, Susan, and I collaborated on The State vs. Max Cooper and The Steele Deal (published by ArtAge Publications), courtroom plays in which the audience serves as the jury. Both are being produced around the country.

In addition to The Click, presently being published by The Wild Rose Press, I have three novels that have recently been completed: The First Coming, An Eye for an Eye, Black Hearts and Hungry Bears (a trilogy). I have written screenplays on these latter three and am presently collaborating with Erik Wolter on a screenplay based on The Click.

    1. Hi Steve, thanks for reaching out. Please send me this message on justbooks28 [at] gmail [dot] com - it's easier for me to keep track of requests :) Will see you there!

  2. I'm interested in either an author interview or a guest post. Here's a guest post from me you could use:

Today’s guest post is from novelist Steven Arnett. He’d like to tell you about his latest novel, The Strange Curse of Breda. It is a recently released suspense/thriller that has already received many 5 star review from Amazon reviewers. Here’s a synopsis:

It’s 1971 and a horrible murder has occurred near the town of Breda in west Michigan. A young woman, Jane Lucas, has been dragged into the woods and stabbed. The letters ZOSO from the Led Zeppelin album have been written in blood on her waist, which leads the police to think it might be a cult murder. Suspicion falls on the commune located on a farm near the town. The shock and horror townspeople feel after that murder, though, are nothing compared to the shock and horror people feel when another murder and then another murder of the same type occur.

The Strange Curse of Breda is about those murders and how they are finally solved. As each murder occurs, the level of fear in Breda intensifies, to the point that the townsfolk either flee the town, arm themselves to the teeth, or fall into an almost catatonic state of fear. The county sheriff, the state police, and even the FBI are baffled. However, Jim Leiden, a young man who runs a small grocery in Breda, finds a clue that may link all the murders together: The hanging of a man named Obadiah Kurtz that occurred in 1889. Jim researches the story and finds that the victims are descendants of the people who were responsible for hanging Obadiah. After Jim’s discovery, he’s in a race against time to try to get the police to believe him and find the murderer before he can kill the only person in the whole world who really matters to him: His beautiful fiancée Julie Veere, who happens to be one of those direct descendants!

You can buy Strange Curse on just about any eBook platform. Here are some of the links:
